By being awarded the following certifications, e-End is able to assure our clients that we maintain the highest level of data security, recycling, environmental stewardship, plus occupational health and safety throughout our organization.
This means you’ll not only receive complete destruction of your sensitive and confidential data, but also a guarantee that none of your old electronics will pose a risk to the environment.
NAID AAA
e-End has received the NAID AAA Certification for purging data on all electronic and non-paper media at both e-End’s facility and at our client’s facility.
The internationally-recognized NAID (National Association for Information Destruction) Certification Program was developed to create standards for a secure destruction process for hard drives, optical media, cell phones and other electronic media.
Since formatting or deleting data on a hard drive won’t destroy the data, the only way to guarantee 100% total data destruction and meet legal obligations for data security is by use of proper erasure procedures with guidance from agencies like the NSA and National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST). Failure to do so creates the potential for massive amounts of personal information, confidential financial records, emails and other sensitive information to be stolen by data thieves.
Areas of focus for Certification include facility security (which includes 24-hour video surveillance and an advanced intrusion alarm system), employee hiring and screening, and extensive training on the proper procedures for data destruction, plus verification by a forensic facility that data is 100% destroyed by our data sanitization process. All employees are required to pass a background check and drug screening before being hired, with random screenings throughout the year. NAID AAA Certified organizations are audited yearly, and subject to unannounced audits, by accredited security professionals to ensure compliance.
R2:2013
Currently there are over two hundred million unused electronic products stored in homes and offices throughout the country. These range from old computers, cell phones, TVs, monitors, and a host of other electronic devices and equipment. With greater nationwide attention on recycling, there is more focus on the proper disposal of these outdated electronics.
Developed by a group of recycling stakeholders and facilitated by the EPA, the R2 accreditation standard is a set of voluntary principles and guidelines designed to promote and assess responsible practices for electronics recyclers. R2 requires implementing a management system which is accountable for practices affecting worker health and safety, security, the environment, and the downstream management, both domestically and internationally, of end-of-life electronic material and equipment. It encompasses rather than replaces the legal obligations of electronics recyclers. Additionally, R2 is particularly focused on electronics which contain cathode ray tubes, circuit boards, items containing mercury and PCBs, and batteries, and seeks to ensure that these materials are not incinerated or landfilled.
To make sure we are meeting these goals, e-End’s process for handling of materials is based on a Reuse, Recover and Recycle hierarchy. The most responsible way for handling items that come into our facility is to first test for possible reuse through remarketing or donation to nonprofits. Anything that cannot be reused is broken down into their core components, and then sent for processing to become new raw material. Our Zero Landfill Policy also requires us to vet our processors to ensure they meet our same strict practices for properly handling hazardous materials. R2 Certification also insures our clients that no material will be illegally exported.
Please Note: When comparing certifications, be aware of the difference between R2:2013 and the older R2:2008 standards. After December 31, 2014, any facility not holding an R2:2013 Certification will no longer be an R2 Certified recycler.
ISO 14001
ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 14001 Certification further guides e-End’s commitment to environmental protection by providing a framework for the company to help reduce their environmental impact.
The core of ISO 14001 is the implementation of an Environmental Management System that minimizes the harmful effects a business may have on the environment. In addition to demonstrating a commitment for decreasing office waste and increasing the recycling of materials, e-End has developed plans to reduce consumption of electricity, natural gas and diesel fuel.
OHSAS 18001
OHSAS (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) 18001 Certification ensures a strong commitment by e-End to occupational health and safety throughout their organization. By developing a concise management system that identifies any health and safety hazards that may be present in their facility, e-End’s goal is to minimize the risks faced by employees, visitors and clients.
Through regular staff training and internal auditing, OHSAS 18001 outlines the processes necessary for continual improvement of safe practices.
OHSAS 18001
e-End is a Certified Woman-Owned Small Business by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council. The WBENC provides the most widely recognized and respected certification in the United States for women’s business enterprises (WBE). WBENC Certification is accepted by major Fortune 500 corporations across the country along with non-profit organizations, as well as many local, state, and Federal government agencies.
To meet WBENC Certification criteria, a business must be at least fifty-one percent ownership by a woman or women. Proof of effective management and control of the business, documented evidence of contribution of capital and/or expertise, and U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status must also be provided.
SBA WOSB
e-End is certified as a Woman Owned Small Business through the U.S. Small Business Administration. To qualify, a firm must be at least 51% directly and unconditionally owned and controlled by one or more women who are U.S. citizens. All small businesses that are interested in submitting an offer on a solicitation that has been set aside for WOSBs under the WOSB Program must complete this certification
